As we kick off the new year, we’re reflecting on a powerful DREAM Christmas season while looking ahead to the impact still to come. From meaningful moments of service to generous partnerships that strengthened our scholars, we’re energized for what’s next—including our upcoming DREAM Makers Vision Luncheon.

New Shoe Day
Thanks to our community partner New Shoe Day and a few generous sponsors, we were able to make the holidays a little brighter for our own DREAM Alive scholars this Christmas. Each 8th grade scholar who participated in DREAM Christmas was gifted a brand-new pair of Nike lifestyle shoes—171 scholars in total—in addition to the 102 pairs of shoes gifted to their DREAM Christmas “littles” at Theodore Potter Elementary School and Brightlane Learning. With New Shoe Day’s mission to end shoe insecurity in Indiana so all youth have access to safe footwear that empowers them to thrive, we were thrilled to bring a piece of that mission to life for our own scholars this season.
Scholar Spotlight
During Howe Middle School’s DREAM Christmas wrapping party at Prime Smile East, we were reminded why empowering scholars to take ownership of each step of the experience matters so much. Rafael, an 8th grade scholar from Howe Middle School participating in DREAM Christmas for the first time, shared how meaningful it felt to shop for and wrap gifts for the child he was paired with. “It feels really good in my soul to do this,” he said. His thoughtfulness and gratitude reflected the heart of DREAM Christmas—when scholars understand the impact of their service, they feel capable, confident, and proud to be part of something bigger. Moments like these remind us that our scholars aren’t just giving back; they are growing into leaders.
