May is always a busy and meaningful time at DREAM Alive as we close out the school year and celebrate all that our scholars have experienced and accomplished. From end-of-year fun trips to Adrenaline and Kings Island, to a hands-on career trip with American Structurepoint and an inspiring alumni scholar story, this month’s updates highlight the growth, joy, and impact of another incredible month.

Featured Career Trip

Our final career trip of the school year was to American Structurepoint, where DREAM Alive scholars took part in an impactful hands-on experience focused on engineering, teamwork, and project planning. Scholars worked together to build structures out of popsicle sticks while learning about the design process, budgeting for materials, and the real-world costs that go into bringing a project to life. It was a fun and practical way for scholars to explore engineering while seeing the value of collaboration, creativity, and planning.

Alumni Spotlight

AJ, a former DREAM Alive scholar, recently reflected on the impact longtime DA staff members Mr. Keon and Mr. Steve had on his life.

“I knew y’all had everyone’s back,” AJ shared. “You were there for me and really helped me get through depression and some hard things in my life.”

For AJ, their support meant having trusted adults who showed up, encouraged him, and helped him believe there was more ahead. As he put it, scholars may not always realize it in the moment, but one day they’ll look back and say, “DREAM Alive really helped me. And that’s what it’s all about.”

DREAM Awards Recap

Last month’s DREAM Awards brought together scholars, families, mentors, company partners, volunteers, and friends to celebrate another incredible year of growth and impact. Centered around the theme “Step Into Your Future,” the evening honored our 2026 award recipients and celebrated 43 graduating seniors who completed six years of DREAM Alive programming as they prepare to take their next steps into college, careers, and new opportunities. We encourage you to read the full recap at the link below to help us celebrate our honorees, seniors, and the many people who made this year so meaningful.
