From the cockpit to the college campus, DREAM Alive scholars have spent this month exploring what their futures could look like. Scholars got hands-on at Republic Airways and toured HBCUs across Tennessee, coming home with bigger dreams and a clearer path forward. And as the holidays approach, there’s a special way for you to be part of the magic, too!
Scholar Spotlight
For Paramount Middle School scholar, KJ, our recent career trip to Republic Airways was a chance to step into the world he’s always been curious about. KJ has long wanted to know how planes work and what it takes to become a pilot, and this visit let him find out! During the trip, he learned how to perform CPR, a lifesaving skill every aviation professional needs. Then he took the controls in a virtual flight simulation, guiding a plane through takeoff and landing. “My interest only grew more after having those experiences,” he shared after the visit.
Exploring HBCUs in Tennessee
This week, DREAM Alive high school scholars spent Monday through Wednesday in Tennessee on our HBCU college tour. Scholars visited American Baptist College, Lane College, and Tennessee State University, where they got a firsthand look at campus life, academic programs, and the rich traditions that make HBCUs so special. Between campus visits, the group had a blast bowling and playing games at Pins Mechanical, and they came together each evening at two side-by-side Airbnbs in the heart of downtown Nashville to unwind and reflect on their day. Our scholars left Tennessee with bigger dreams and a clearer picture of what their next chapter could look like.
