Breaking the Cycle of Poverty.
Our HIstory
In 2001, we were founded by former Indianapolis Colts Offensive Tackle, Tarik Glenn, and his wife Maya. After four years with the Colts, Tarik began to dream about how he could use his platform as a football star to raise up the next generation of leaders. Originally designed to create community centers in needy areas, the organization refocused when Glenn and the group began working with Indianapolis Public Schools.
Since then, we have continued to pursue the goals and desires that Tarik and Maya set forth years ago.
Our Mission
DREAM Alive (DA) is a Non-Profit (501c3) focused on mentoring youth in 7th-12th grade to become civic-minded leaders. DREAM Alive helps break the cycle of poverty by helping youth discover career paths and mentoring them from 7th grade until high school graduation.
How do we do this?
Through partnerships with schools, communities, and corporations, DREAM Alive provides scholars with three key opportunities:
Career-Focused Experiential Learning
Mentoring Relationships
Character Development
With a heavy focus on career paths, corporate volunteer integration, emotional intelligence training, long-term mentoring, and cost-effectiveness, DREAM Alive differentiates itself from other mentoring organizations.
