DREAM Alive relies on volunteers to serve our young scholars and support them in developing their career dreams. Opportunities exist for all types of schedules. If you have a desire to serve alongside us, please check out the volunteer opportunities below.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM VOLUNTEER
Meet with our scholars after school from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on weekdays to build relationships, teach lessons on various topics, go on career field trips, provide community service and just have fun!
Commitment: Consistently every week. We are willing to work with your schedule!
HBCU / COLLEGE ROAD TRIP VOLUNTEER
DREAM Alive takes a select group of high school students on (2) college road trips each year. Our HBCU trip takes place over Fall Break and our College Road Trip takes place during Spring Break. We need several adult volunteers to help chaperone our students and attend all college visits over the course of 3 days.
HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM VOLUNTEER
Meet with our high schoolers during programming hours, typically during the daytime or at our monthly socials in the evenings. Build relationships, participate in career exploration lessons and attend sporting and recreational events alongside our high school scholars.
Commitment: As often as your schedule allows.
DREAM AWARDS VOLUNTEER
Our annual DREAM Awards celebration takes place in late April or early May. We celebrate our graduating seniors, as well as recognize individuals, companies and community partners who have made a difference in our scholars’ lives. This event is typically held at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center. We need volunteers to help set up, check in guests, and clean up.
DREAM 1:1 LUNCH MENTOR
Lunch mentoring consists of spending (2) 1-hour lunches with a high school scholar each month between September-April. Build a valuable relationship and make a huge difference in a young person’s life!
Commitment: 2 days per month throughout September-April.
DREAM CHRISTMAS SHOPPING VOLUNTEER
This is a special holiday community service event that allows DREAM Alive scholars to provide “Christmas" for children and families living in poverty across Indianapolis. Each DA scholar sponsors a local child and participates in a shopping day at Meijer in mid-November. We are in need of lots of volunteers to help our scholars shop with several days to choose from.
SUMMER CAMP GUEST SPEAKER
Each summer we host a 2-week summer camp for scholars to learn more about career exploration as a bridge between the school years. We are looking for professionals to speak on various career-related topics.
Commitment: 1-hour during the first two weeks of June during our Summer Bridge Career Camp.
DREAM CHRISTMAS VOLUNTEER
After our scholars shop and wrap their gifts, we will host a big celebration at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for more than 500+ people on December 4, 2024 from 5:00-7:30pm. We need several volunteers to help this event run smoothly, including set up volunteers, gift organizers, face painters, cookie decorators, photographers and more.
